Methow Valley and Bluebird Farms

I spent the weekend in the sunny and warm, Methow Valley, specifically Winthrop and Twisp. Seattle decided to take the summer off, so it was nice to sweat and be hot. It reminded me of March in the South. I shot a portrait of the owners of Bluebird Farms, Brooke and Sam Lucy, and their two kids, Mariah and Larkin. They grow grains, and specialize in Emmer Farro. Their operation is impressive and are some of the nicest people I’ve ever photographed. Here is their picture.

Bluebird Farms was recently certified Salmon Safe and hosted a dinner on Sunday night.

Images from the Peninsula

I’ve been on the Olympic Peninsula a few times in the past few weeks for a variety of assignments. Here are some images from those projects.

John Rugh stands at the edge of the Glines Canyon Dam on the Elwha River. On Sept 17th, deconstruction of these two dams will begin, though don’t expect a Hollywood-style blowout. Over the next 3 years, the Elwha River will move, uninterrupted, to its mouth in the Strait of Juan de Fuca.

An injured shoulder and a boat crossing after being taken out of his canoe. See here.
